Step Seven says : Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings
This week is about willingly letting go and it can be difficult. Letting go most often means there will be loss on the other side of that decision. This step is all about that decision and surrender to willingly allow God to purge us of the things that have kept us in bondage to our addictions. I’m reminded of some very appropriate words by Jesus’ friend, John.
On the other hand, if we admit our sins—make a clean breast of them—he won’t let us down; he’ll be true to himself. He’ll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrongdoing.
Let’s take some time today to talk to God honestly about the things we have discovered this week. I’m going to ask you to go a step further, if you are able. After you’re done talking to Him, sit silently with Him and LISTEN for as much time as you can. It will be uncomfortable to some, I understand. Try to take the time to listen to what He whispers to your soul and write it down!
Here is a prayer that you could start with,
Prayer for Step Seven: My Creator, I am willing that you should have all of me, good and bad. I pray that you now remove from me every single defect of character that stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows. Grant me strength as I go out from here to do your bidding.
