January 12, 2010 the world watched a 7.0 earthquake rattle the poverty stricken nation of Haiti (CNN Article). Since that day, the nation has been in recovery. Their recovery has been an arduous journey and one impossible for them to do alone. The world has responded in various ways in partnering to help rebuild and rebirth the nation of Haiti.

My son and I are part of a team from Gateway Church that will be traveling to Haiti to serve with Mission of Hope at the end of May. We are both very excited to have the opportunity to engage with the local culture and build relationships. We are excited to partner with Mission of Hope in serving local orphans, widows, and villages.

The countdown has officially begun. I am working out the kinks of what it looks like for me to blog with myphone so that I can continue to write that week! If you’d like more information about how you can support us, please feel free to contact me.

  1. What an amazing opportunity Lisa! You and Creighton will forever be changed by this. I look forward to experiencing it through your eyes and words.

  2. Thanks for your emails and messages about Haiti today! I’ve gotten a lot of questions today asking how people can help! Here’s how you can get involved…

    1) Financial Support – Consider supporting us as we travel to Haiti. You can give online at http://www.gatewaychurch.com/give
Just fill out this online form stating who you are sponsoring :: https://gatewayaustin.wufoo.com/forms/haiti-mission-serving-trip-donation-gcc/

    2) Prayer Support – Pray for (and with) our team as we prepare for this trip over the next six weeks. Especially the week we are in Haiti (May 28-June 3)

    3) Get the word out! Share our Facebook posts, blogs, tweets, etc on social networking sites. Getting the word out about our trip and about Mission of Hope Haiti is a great way to support us – awareness is key for us to make a difference! (www.mohhaiti.org)

    3) Prayerfully consider sponsoring some of the kids we are going to serve. Mission of Hope took on an additional 1000 kids due to the need and are trusting they will be sponsored by generous souls.
